technolope was part of another art showing last night. Good times were had all around as the party rolled from gallery to bar and onward.
The piece is called “The trouble with algorithmic art.” It’s a pair of transparencies mounted between plexiglass on the front of a bright-ass lightbox. The image itself is the result of some crazy fluid flow simulation. The “trouble” part is that even though there is explicitly no representational component in the image … the human brain is very good at finding meaning and representation in pictures. This one in particular seems to be a great rorschach image.
What do you see? Me? I see a pretty butterfly. Next question.
