So far, Tiger (OS X, 10.4) is a lot like Panther (OS X, 10.3). I succeeded in doing a clean install and carving out a little space for GenToo along the way. Strangely, Tiger appears to be *smaller* in terms of raw OS footprint than Panther. This probably has to do with ditching all the revision history and downloaded patches, but it’s amazing to me. Software *never* gets smaller.
I’m not totally enraptured with “Dashboard,” but maybe it’ll grow on me.
My laptop is a lot peppier since the install, but so many things changed that I’m hesitant to give the new OS any credit for that. Let’s give it a year and see if it’s still peppy.
