Finally got another note back about “dwan.net”:

I would pay the remainder of your registration.  The 
place I use charges $35 a year for a domain.  I see that you've registered until 
June of next year.  I would go as high as $50.

It's not a business proposition to me, I do not plan to make money off the 
domain.  If you want to keep it, that's up to you.  

Let me know if you decide you don't want to keep it.

You cocky turd!  You've owned that domain since 1999.  
6 years, you've sat on it, with your thumb god-knows-where and now you have the nerve to
make like it's my problem that you wasted all that time and money?   Yeesh!  You should be 
grateful that I'm talking to you.  Someday, when you're old and gray, you can tell your kids how 
I sent you an email one time!  If you can't make use of a domain in SIX YEARS, let someone else 
give it a whirl.

Anyway register.com kindly offered me these consolation prize domains, since I couldn’t have the ones I wanted.
