Random crap and holiday cheer

Well, the decision is upon us: We’ve had this freaky dietary preference for nearly a year now, in which we don’t consume mammals or poultry. It started off as almost a dare or a bet on Jan 1 of this 2004 with an estimated TTL (that’s Time To Live) of a month. It’s evolved into a choice that we both feel comfortable with. This is one of the few “new years resolutions” either of us has ever kept for an entire year.

But, not to put too fine a point on it, sometimes I find myself really wanting a hamburger. For Jen it’s a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Mmm. With the fried onions and the peppers, and that tangy sauce…wow. Anyway, I think that we may fall back into the “not much meat, and quality controlled and humanely prepared when we do it” category as of Jan 1.

The fam is in town (two parents, two siblings, all “in-law” relative to me). We hung out and ate and went to a concert tonight, and tomorrow we plan to hang out and eat and open some presents. The Christmas festivities are spreading out over nearly a full week this year. Jen’s family this weekend, mine Wed / Thurs of this coming week (in which, I understand the plan is to hang out and eat…and maybe exchange some gifts), and then my private “gee, golly, my wife works Christmas some years” party on the 25th.

Work is going well. I’m getting to play the role of “the guy who keeps bringing up the fact that this was supposed to be a bug-fix version.” That means that I keep pissing on the parade and saying “very cool new code, but will it introduce any new support issues?” Somebody has to be that person for every software release. This time, it’s me.

Oh yeah, and (not safe for work) softcore Cheetos porn. Arguably the most obscure fetish ever recorded.
