Snippets from home

I’m safely home in Providence for the week. Things are in good shape. Apparently the world, both local and global, can look after itself without my direct supervision for three weeks. This is a good thing to know.

Got a letter from my heating oil company with all kinds of scary words on it, including “credit,” “dunnage,” “over balance,” “we take credit cards,” and “call us at your earliest convenience”. So I called. It was really pretty simple: I’m on a “budget plan” under which I pay $210 every single month of the year. We used a 12 month schedule (August – July) when we set up the plan, and also assumed that I would use as much oil this year as I did each of the past two years. If you do that math that way again, with 3/4 of a year’s data in hand, then it’s obvious that I’m going to be fine.

However (according to the lady on the phone) they now assume that the account needs to be cleared by the end of the “heating season,” so that I will pay $0 in June and July, then I (gasp!) am not going to clear my balance! However, I’m not technically required to clear the balance prior to August 1. Did I want to pay some extra right now? No thanks … I think I’ll pay my June and July bills in June and July, as we agreed … not a full quarter early. What, end of the fiscal year or something?

The poinsettia is blooming. I’ve never seen one of them do that in captivity … or at least not in my captivity.

Worry cat was very happy to see me, though she was somewhat concerned.

redmed got herself a BOSE “Wave” CD Player / Radio. It rocks.

If I owe you an email or a phone call, please send a reminder. The stack of documents on my desk / INBOX is pretty impressive.
