Haiti Journal – June 3 – Port au Prince – Evening
Last night at dinner, the nuns had made a cake and somehow gotten a bottle of champaign in honor of Jen and my 6th wedding anniversary. It apparently took two days to make the cake, because they had to beat everything by hand. I just about cried. They had also put up signs saying “Congratulations Jen and Chris, from your friends in Fondwa.”
This morning, we made our way to Port au Prince. The goodbyes with the sisters were heartfelt and long. John and Elizabeth stopped by the orphanage to say ‘so long.’
The drive back was long and sweaty. We came back to the hospice, at which point our driver wussed out. This infuriated Kathy. We hired a new driver on the spot and proceeded as planned.
