Back into town this morning for more computer worship. Gonna install our first co-located server today. This is a good idea; We have machine room space. Some of our customers really don’t care where the physical machine is located, so long as they can get to it on the network. Therefore (for a fee), we take care of power, cooling, network, setup, and all that other jazz … and they just use the machine. We’ll see how it works out.
This evening, going to a “partner reception” with one of our corporate partners. It may be cool, but I suspect that I drew the short straw.
Last night was fun. redmed and I came over to technolope and capital_l‘s place to celebrate the fact that he has shipped off the final text of his Thesis. They cracked the schmancy champaign that they had been saving, lit a fire, and we laughed and laughed as we became funnier and funnier. Plans for world domination were advanced somewhat with the introduction of “homeheatpump.com”.
Yesterday at BioIT-World was also fun. I gave my talk, and got a new and interesting form of ego-feeding: When I reached the penultimate slide, which shows off some sw33t new technology we’ve developed, people in the audience took out cameras and took pictures of the screen. Not just that dorky guy in the front, either. Like, lots of cameras came out to record the moment. I thought that was pretty cool. Got several nice complements as well, including “yours is the last talk of the conference, and the first one that I’m glad I came to.” I guess she wasn’t a big fan of the rest of the show.
Holy hell, is it really Thursday already?
