\n* Local governments want to drill in costal shoals, over the protests of fishermen, environmentalists, and homeowners
\n* Two party system is driving all politics in the US to a zero sum shouting match
\n* Overpopulation
\n* Global disease (hanta virus + international airport = screwed!)
\n* US, still trying to occupy Iraq
\n* US, still trying to occupy Afghanistan
\n* Japan and China, soon to be in a nuclear arms race
\n* Unsustainable economic model demands exponential growth forever in order to avoid massive collapse.
\n* Peak oil
\n* Upswing in religious fundamentalism, worldwide.
\n* Nuclear proliferation: Iran, North Korea, Packistan, Israel. All nuclear armed. Sound like a bad idea?
\n* Biological weapons \/ bioterrorism
\n* Species being pushed into extinction at an increasing rate
\n* Obesity on the rise<\/p>\n
