I did a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\">google<\/a> search on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&#038;lr=&#038;ie=ISO-8859-1&#038;q=phallic+water+tower\" target=\"_new\">&#8220;phallic water tower&#8221;<\/a>, and the top hit is a reference to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.easternecho.com\/cgi-bin\/story.cgi?1322\" target=\"_new\">Ypsilanti<\/a> structure.  Apparently it won an informal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cabinetmagazine.org\/phallic\/contest.php\" target=\"_new\">contest<\/a> and was dubbed the most phallic building in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Disturbingly, there were a lot of really solid hits on this query.  Many people have written about this previously, and now I&#8217;m one.  <\/p>\n<p>There was, however, only <a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?hl=en&#038;lr=&#038;ie=ISO-8859-1&#038;q=phallic+water+tower&#038;btnG=Search\" target=\"_new\">one<\/a> response to the &#8220;image search&#8221; on the same query.  Compare and contrast with &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?q=happy+baby&#038;hl=en&#038;lr=&#038;ie=ISO-8859-1\" target=\"_new\">happy baby<\/a>&#8221; or &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/images.google.com\/images?hl=en&#038;lr=&#038;ie=ISO-8859-1&#038;q=cute+kitten\" target=\"_new\">cute kitten<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"border: 1px solid black; padding: 3px;\"><strong>Originally published at <a href=\"http:\/\/chris.dwan.org\/?p=237\">chris.dwan.org<\/a>.
