I decided to change into my “Obama \/ Biden ’08” shirt before going in to Adam’s Morgan for a drink with the guys from work. We went to the first bar of the evening (Reef) without incident, other than the Canadian women pulling the old “which are the cool bars” line. Come on, girls, we know what that’s about. Eh?<\/p>\n
The onward to a hookah bar at the far end of the street, where we had barely settled in before the four young black folks at a nearby table had bought me (very specifically) a drink because “they liked my shirt.”<\/p>\n
Go Obama.<\/p>\n
When said drink arrived, I went over and chatted with them. Political science students at Howard University. Some from Kenya, some from other places. They were very interested in why I like Obama, whether I think he’ll win, and (after some talking) where I’m coming from and why. <\/p>\n
Good times. So now, if anyone wants to know why I support Obama … it’s because he gets me free drinks at the bar. <\/p>\n
