Today, &#8220;after work,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/redmed.livejournal.com\/\" class=\"lj-user\">redmed<\/a> and I are hopping in a car to go to Allentown, PA to attend a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dalailamajuly2008.com\">six day teaching by the Dalai Lama<\/a>.  Despite the admonition that &#8220;his holiness greatly appreciates it when students prepare for his lectures by reading the source material beforehand,&#8221; I have utterly failed to prepare.  I have read only two out of the three volumes &#8230; meaning that I&#8217;m about 450 pages behind for a class that starts tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t felt this way since college.  I know he&#8217;s gonna call on me.  I just know it.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the 950 pages that I *have* read have gotten me thinking in all sorts of interesting and semi-profound ways.
