I was chasing this for a month as some kind of hardware issue, since it only rears its head when I physically unplug the thing to swap memory around.

This is actually a good solution, since it’s something that both Intel and I can point to and agree on the cause, and they can improve their documentation such that a halfway intelligent human being wouldn’t flail for a month without realizing that the system is *supposed* to act like this.

Apparently, if you only have one power outlet, the approved way to plug this system in is to physically remove the second power supply. That way 100% of the available power supplies are at full capacity.

Anyway, I’ve reduced it to a case where I can run my tests, and it will be slow if I rip either power cord out and fast if they’re both plugged in. Yay. Is the damn thing done yet?

I’ve also got an angry Italian to deal with, who bought our software from a re-seller. Said re-seller was very specific that he was *not* to contact my company for support. This may be, in part, because we never got paid for the software. Setting that aside, he’s pissed that our software sucks. I’m starting off with “let me send you a real copy of the software, and we’ll tear the cost of it out of your re-seller.”

Plus I’m tired, over-caffinated and under-exercised.

Whine complain moan bitch gripe.

 . . . → Read More: Whine

[1
36,33
